Jim Koch founded The Boston Beer Company in 1984 because he believed that Americans deserved better beer. Today, we’re a team of about 350 people, and we all share a common passion for bringing great Samuel Adams® beers to beer lovers everywhere. We’ve worked hard for the many successes we’ve enjoyed over the years. The Boston Beer Company has been cited as one of the best companies to work for by Boston Magazine, one of the Best Entry-Level Jobs by The Princeton Review, and our beers have won more awards than any beer in history. Jim has been named an “Entrepreneur of the Year” by Inc. Magazine. Our brewers keep amazing us with innovative new brews, most recently Samuel Adams Utopias and Samuel Adams® Chocolate Bock.

Gritty McDuff's Brewing Company

Gritty McDuff's Brewing Company

In 1988, Ed Stebbins and Richard Pfeffer opened Maine's first brewpub since Prohibition. From their modest beginnings in the old port, Gritty's has grown considerably. A second brewpub in Freeport was added in 1995 and during this past summer Gritty's opened their third brewpub! Located on the bank of the Androscoggin River at the corner of Main and Court Streets in Auburn, this third location features a great deck overlooking the river and a glassed-in brewery room that can be seen by passing traffic or pedestrians. Gritty's four flagship ales and their 4 seasonal beers are now sold state-wide.

Harpoon Brewery

We started the Harpoon Brewery in 1986 because—like today—we loved beer and wanted more good choices. While traveling in Europe after college, we drank many wonderfully diverse, fresh, local beers. We also saw firsthand how important local breweries were to their communities. After our travels, we asked each other, "why not bring great beer and that sense of community to New England?" That was the genesis of the Harpoon Brewery. Twenty years later we still revel in making great beer and sharing that joy with our friends and neighbors.

Milly's Tavern

Milly's Tavern

Milly's Tavern first opened its doors in January of 2002 at the location of the former Stark Mill Brewery. Milly's opened through the hard work and love of the craft of Master Brewer Peter Telge, a New Hampshire native, who has been brewing his own beers for the better part of 20 years. With the closing of the Stark Mill Brewery and the many changes that have befell the city in the recent years, Peter felt that Manchester, as New Hampshire's Queen City, was sadly falling the way of commercial and contract beers. He, with a dedicated following of fans of his brew, set to work reopening the brewery as “Milly's Tavern,” proudly operating as Manchester's only brew pub. We welcome you as our guests to stop by and try a glass of Peter's hard work.

Narragansett Brewing

It all started with John H. Fehlberg, Augustus F. Borchandt, Herman G. Possner, George M. Gerhard, Constand A. Moeller, and Jacob Wirth. In 1888, these local businessmen—”The Original Six”—came together to form the Narragansett Brewing Company. With $150,000 in capital and funds from Butterine (Fehlberg’s predecessor to margarine), a brick brewing house was built. In December of 1890, the first beer was produced, and the following year the company officially incorporated. A little trivia: Did you know that at one time, the grounds of the Narragansett Brewing Company included a barn, a stable, a blacksmith, seventy-five horses, forty-five wagons, gas-powered trucks, electric trucks, twenty-five refrigerated train cars and its own ice plant?

Red Hook

Red Hook

In 1981, Gordon Bowker and Paul Shipman started Redhook Ale Brewery in an old transmission shop in Seattle. Early missteps led to a cult following and eventually led to widespread acclaim that inspired countless craft brewers. Still, more than 25 years later, no brewery has been able to achieve the pure, unqualified Liquid Goodness of Redhook.

Redhook has breweries in Woodinville, Washington, and Portsmouth, New Hampshire. To fully appreciate the process of brewing a craft beer, we recommend you stop by one of the Redhook breweries for a tour. Until then, please enjoy the Liquid Goodness of a cold Redhook Ale wherever you call home.

The Flying Goose Brew Pub

The Flying Goose Brew Pub

New Englanders are fond of common wisdoms and pieties. Hardly a day passes without someone noting that "if it isn't broken, don't fix it" or "if you don't like the weather, wait a minute" or the simple multi-leveled evasion. At the Flying Goose Brew Pub & Grill in 2001, travelers and old-timers, newcomers and seasonal residents, students at Colby-Sawyer College, their friends, and parents can still expect to hear regional wisdoms and pieties exchanged in the setting that the restaurant's most recent owner Tom Mills has designed to continue providing the legendary hospitality at the corner just below the town's "windy hill."

White Birch Brewing

Welcome to White Birch Brewing. NH’s first nano-brewery. We started making beer in June of 2009 in 15 or 20 gallon batches. The advent of our first calendar year saw us go from about a barrel a day brewing to about two barrels a day. Thanks to the continued interest in our beers we have pushed harder and on some batches reached three barrels. It’s all done by hand in our modest brewery here in Hooksett NH.

Woodchuck / Green Mountain Beverage

A long time ago, way back in 1990, there was a little winery in the town of Proctorsville, Vermont. Back then, we made our living producing a variety of apple wines, something not many wineries do. We also made a little cider called “Vermont Old-Fashioned Hard Cider” – not the most catchy name, yet pretty darn appropriate. We set out to create a truly American hard cider – a feat that hadn’t really been accomplished in the last 200+ years. (Sorry, but we just can’t count the stuff your grandpa made in “The Woodshed.”) The crafting process started with the Vermont Old-Fashioned Hard Cider we already had on hand. Countless changes were made, not the least of which was taking the alcohol content down from 12% to 5%. After three months of blood, sweat and tears, a new cider was born. (Don’t worry, we kept all the blood sweat and tears out of the cider.)
